Coming Home - changed
Many have come to appreciate the success of parents who have "sheltered" their children by strict supervision of friends and activities, homeschooling, etc. It's not easy in today's world to 'bring up a child in the way he should go', and not without the sacrifices many parents have been willing to make.
The tragic irony is that some of these same families then encourage their young men to join the armed forces. Before you encourage such life changing action in your youth, we would first suggest reading the New Testament commands of our Lord. If the commands of the Lord or His admonition that those who love Him will obey Him are not important and you still see military life as a viable option for yourself or your child, please scroll down and consider the following sampling of news articles of those who came back from war physically intact. Although one might see these cases as extreme, every war veteran is adversely affected in some way, and these are only a sampling of the thousands of accounts of changed lives. This Viet Nam vet can say this; except for the grace of God and the the total inner healing I experienced from the Holy Spirit upon my surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ, I can truly testify to the lives in the articles,
"But by the Grace of God, go there I".
At risk of leaving a negative taste, check out the Jared Smith, Mike Thames , and Dean Taylor stories and read how God makes positive changes.

4 recruiter suicides lead to Army probeHENDERSON, Texas Sgt. 1st Class Patrick Henderson, a strapping Iraq combat veteran, spent the last, miserable months of his life as an Army recruiter, cold-calling dozens of people a day from his strip-mall office and sitting in strangers' living rooms, trying to sign up their sons and daughters for an unpopular war.
He put in 13-hour days, six days a week, often encountering abuse from young people or their parents. When he and other recruiters would gripe about the pressure to meet their quotas, their superiors would snarl that they ought to be grateful they were not in Iraq, according to his widow.
Less than a year into the job, Henderson afflicted by flashbacks and sleeplessness after his tour of battle in Iraq went into his backyard shed, slid the chain lock in place, and hanged himself with a dog chain. Shock Wave; Lacey man returns from war--but not to himself:
Naipo, 51, is one of thousands of National Guard citizen soldiers who have left established jobs and families to answer a call and come back altered men and women. On the outside, they look fine, the same even. They blend in at work, in the grocery line, at their children's soccer games. People tell them they're lucky. They're not dead.
They don't bear the grim signatures of combat, the missing limbs or shattered skulls. Their wounds, though, are as insidious as they are invisible. Many return with brains and psyches damaged by chronic exposure to the hammering of blast waves and the afterimages left by bodies blown apart. They come home, but not back to themselves.

Memorial Day: Another Iraq vet with PTSD dies:
While the cause of his death is still being investigated, family members say he was taking eight different types of medications to deal with post-traumatic stress disorder after serving two tours in Iraq. "We sent these kids over there, we're putting them through things that we'll never see in our lifetimes. Things we see in the movies that are not real, it's real to them," said Christine Judan, a family friend of the Oligschlaegers.

Start by reading the New Testament of the Bible. You can begin a short course by reading the Gospel of John first, followed by the book of Romans.
I would appreciate if you share your findings by e-mailing me, Carl, at polypubs@hctc.com; because I believe the written Word and the power of the Holy Spirit will reveal to you the way of salvation, and if you enter into the Kingdom of God you will be compelled by Him to share your knowledge and experience, which can set others free also.
Pray: Among other things, that those in and those preparing to enter the Armed Forces may see through the lies and heresy of American Civil Religion, be born again, and take a consciencious objector stand like Mike Thames, Jared Smith, and hundreds of others have. If you don't understand what this is all about, read repent below.
Repent: If you have encouraged others to join organizations which violate the law of love which Jesus commands of His followers. An outgrowth of this repentence may be confession that you have followed a Civil Religion, to those you haveled astray, and you may be encouraged to convince your local church to become a Peace Church.
Many active duty military personnel are be being discharged after applying for conscientious objector status while on active duty. Check out Mike Thames and Jared Smith's stories, and read my booklet, God and Country from a Christian Perspective free online or free hard copy, as well as books for sale on this site which reveal the lie of American Civil Religion that violence and killing are a Christian virtue. stories.
